ABOUT ME

What I love about pottery is creating objects that people can enjoy in everyday life, a favorite mug for morning coffee or a bowl used for shared meals. Beautiful objects make ordinary moments feel special.

I’ve felt connected to clay since I was a kid playing in the creek near my house. The banks were full of clay, and we’d dig it out, shape little creations, and leave them on the rocks to dry. I didn’t realize it then, but that feeling of shaping something from the earth stayed with me.

I really discovered pottery later in a college ceramics class. What started as a fun elective quickly became a passion. I loved being able to take an idea and turn it into something real, something both beautiful and useful. That balance between form and function still drives my work today.

Nature continues to inspire what I make, from the movement of water to the textures and patterns found outdoors. I’m drawn to the organic, slightly imperfect quality of studio pottery. Each piece records a moment in time and the effects of heat, atmosphere, and glaze in the kiln, which means no two ever turn out exactly the same.
